When I share with people that I'm a portrait photographer by profession, it's common to think simply of families, babies, weddings and graduations.
HOWEVER, my love affair with photography began with photojournalism. My passion for storytelling lies at the heart of my photography.
I say this, because I have such a strong conviction that there's profound value in telling your WHOLE story.
I love weddings, I love capturing family moments and portraits. I love working with seniors as they embark on a brand new and exciting chapter in their life - But nothing causes my heart to well up more quickly, than sitting with a client, hearing of the many profound moments in their life - the ones NOT captured on camera that have SHAPED them, MOLDED them, CHANGED them.
What profound obstacle did you overcome?
What raging insecurity did you finally decide to silence?
What debilitating fear did you drag out into the light to conquer?
What period of grief, of deep sorrow grew you in strength and compassion?
What fiery flames of life threatened to consume you, but didn't?
WHERE DID YOU HAVE TO BREAK, BEFORE THE LIGHT COULD COME POURING IN?
THESE stories are my favorites. THESE stories, and working to capture them in a beautiful, honest and powerful portrait, is why I picked up a camera 20 years ago.
I want to hear your story.
And my camera and I want to tell it.
